Mosaic Biscuits

Hallo all!

So I am still in the mind set of I can make food into a wonderful, awe inspiring shape after watching lots of Vi Hart. So, about last week, I decided to have a go making Mosaics out of - biscuits.

So I set to work, making the dough nice and thick and roll-able (mine is usually the kind that needs to be spooned out onto the tray) then got my round shaped cookie cutter, a knife, and then set to work.

It took me a good half an hour or so to have them finished off nicely to be cooked, and I had gotten rather frustrated several times, but I (and the dough :P) survived.

Here are some pictures of them:

I loved the flower patterns! ^-^

I just had to make myself a Snail shaped biscuit. Who doesn't love snails?

And some more plaits.

Well, I'd a better be going. Got some thing else to blog on, and then -taa daa! I'll have done what I wanted to do today and I can have dinner and go to bed.

Hmm... I wonder what Dinner is?

Meat Tau

Hallo hallo!

Well, I'm back! I'm going to try to post on here more often. I just realized there are about fifteen posts on here, and fifty four on my Blog of poems.

On Saturday morning I made a lovely Tau - although most people would call it a Pie (or Pi). However, I call it tau because pi needs to be multiplied by two to make it a whole, while tau is just a whole. So that would mean a pie is actually half a Tau. Understand?

I made some pastry on Friday (500 grams of flour, 250 grams of butter, and some salt and about a cup of water), and then on Saturday morning I put the oven to about 200 and then started browning the mince. I added some stock to the mince, then put in the carrot and potato that I'd diced into it.

I halved the pastry and rolled out one to fit the tray. I rolled out the other half and cut a bit off to make the Tau sign.
When the filling was ready I scooped it into the tray and ate what couldn't fit for breakfast. I put on the top of the Tau and added the Tau sign, then popped it in the oven whilst I got ready to leave for my circus class. When I had finished getting ready I turned off the heat and left the Tau in the oven.

When I got home it was perfect, and I had a piece of it. It was so good cold, I don't want to have it warmed up!!

Well, it was soon gone come Sunday evening. Here's the pictures of it:

Let me know if you make a Tau! (Or a Pi!!)

Mathmatical dinner

Hallo, Hallo!

How has all my lovely followers been? I'm so, so sorry about not posting for ages - I've been quite busy!

Well, on Tuesday I decided to make mathmatical dinner. You see, I've been watching a lot of Vi Hart's youtube channel, and she has such a lot of cool math stuff! I found a video of Borromean Onion rings, and I liked the look of them so much! Then I found Optimal Potatoes (You "math" them instead of "Mash" them - to math them you boil them whole, then when soft you half them, then half them again, etc.)

So I decided to make Mathed Potato, Borromean Onion Rings, Hexagonal Burgers, and Gravey.

It turned out pretty well -although I got potato all over the floor as well as in the bowl, and most of the Borromean Onion rings fell apart due to not enough batter. The burgers came out of their nice Hexagon shape, but vaguely resembled a hexagon.

I'm Back, with Cottage Pie!!!

Hello every one!

I'm back! Sorry for taking so long to come back to put up new recipes - I've been busy with school work and other stuff!
I have a new recipe for you today. Yesterday I made a lovely Cottage Pie for dinner, and every one loved it. So I'm putting it up one here:

                           WillowUnicorn's Cottage Pie.

Eight Onions
Ten small carrots
1kg of Mince, preferably beef, but pork will do.
5 tomatoes
One ladle full of beef stock
Pinch of salt
Ten medium potatoes
milk
butter

Chop up the onions and put them it a big-ish pot. Add some cooking Lard/Tallow to the pot, and let it heat up, mixing it now and then to stop the onions from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Chop the carrots in half, then slice them to look like half circles. Add them to the pot.
Take the mince, and put it into the pot. Mix the mince, onions and carrots together. Put in the salt.
Chop the tomatoes up and add them to the pot. Take the stock and add it to the pot. Mix it up, and put it on a low heat. Stir every now and then, and leave the lid off.
Once the meat is cooked, or (if you are waiting for some one to get home) once it is time for dinner soon, bring a pot of of water to the boil. Whilst you are waiting for it to boil, wash the potatoes and chop them into thin slices, leaving the skin on them. When the water is boiling add them to the water, and let them cook until you are able to spear them on a fork.
Drain the water from the potatoes, and put the oven on 180 degrees Celsius. Put the potatoes back in the pot, and add a splash of milk and a wad of butter. Mash it into the potatoes. I like creamy mashed potatoes, so if it isn't creamy enough I add more milk.
Spoon the Mince mix into a large tray with tall sides. Place dollops of the Mash onto the Mince mix and spread it around with the fork. Continue doing that until the Mince mix is covered by the Mash (if you have left over Mash, you can either add it to the tray or use it for something else. My Brothers ate the left over mash).
Cook for five minutes in the oven.

Please let me know if you make it, and if you add anything, like spices! I love to see knew recipes.

See you later!

Meat Loaf

Hullo cooks!
Sorry, I have taken longer than I meant to - I've been updating my Poem blog:http://theblogofpoems.blogspot.com.au/
and my story:https://community.lego.com/t5/NINJAGO-Stories/Stormchild-and-the-Ninja/m-p/7191144#M92565
But I now have I recipe for you - Meat Loaf! Hopefully you'll all like it :)

Meat Loaf
2 carrots
2 onions
Italian Herbs
1Kg of mince meat

Put oven on 180
Grate the carrots and put them in a large bowl. Grate or finely dice the onions and add them to the bowl.
Sprinkle the Italian Herbs on to taste - it can be as much or as little as you like, depending on how you want it to taste.
Put in the mince and mix it all up. Add the egg and give it another mix.
Pat the mixture into a cake tin. If you have more left over, put it into another tin.
Put the tin/tins into the oven. I don't time it - it tastes nicer the longer it cooks.

I hope you like the Meat Loaf - I have only made it two times and my Mum, Dad and bros love it :)
